It's another fabulous day here at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. On this 14th day of January in 2009, you can expect to see partly cloudy skies with a 30% chance of snow to fall today. Temperatures will be in the comfortable mid 20 range and are expected to stay that way through the weekend. Although we haven't received any new snow in the past 24 hours, we have received 3 inches of snow in the past 48 hours, and a foot of snow has fallen in the past week, making the season snowfall so far this year a stellar 163 inches! The wonderful white, fluffy snow has given the mountain a fantastic 50 inch base that is ready to be skied and ridden on. Over 1,000 skiable acres are open, 481 of which are groomed to perfection. For all of you number people out there, that's equivalent to 91 trails open, 74 of which have been groomed, creating Colorado's best corduroy. You can ride any of the 14 chair lifts open, remembering that Teocalli Lift and Twister Lift are closed Monday-Friday and will reopen on the weekend, to get to the 100% of beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain that is open, in addition to the 60% of open Extreme terrain. Corduroy fans, the groomers recommend Treasury as their groomer's choice of the day. But if you ask me, any run you take today will be nothing short of fantastic!
