Good Morning skiers and riders! This is your Crested Butte Mountain Resort snow report for Thursday, February 12th. We've had an amazing season so far with 219.5 inches of snowfall, giving us a fantastic 58 inch base! We received one half inch of new snow overnight, four and one half inches of new snow in the last 48 hours, and thirteen and one half inches of new snow in the last seven days! So that means, you can expect powder and packed powder conditions on the Mountain today! Fifteen lifts will give you access to 104 trails all spread out across 1250 acres of terrain. If you feel like hitting the groomers, you've got 75 trails to choose from. For the ultimate groomed run, take a ride down Treasury because it is our groomer's choice for today! Good news folks, snow showers are expected today with a 70% chance of precipitation. We will see the snow ease up slightly tomorrow, but it will come in strong once again on Saturday with another 70 % chance of precipitation! So get ready all you powder skiers and riders, because we could be in for another beautiful, snow filled weekend! Not only is today the birthday of one of my favorite American presidents, (Abraham Lincoln) but it is also the day we are gearing up for The North Face Masters competitive snowboarding tour! Registration will be held today from 9-3 at the Elevation Hotel. Venues for the competition will be announced at 9:00 am and there will be an athletes meeting from 3:30 to 4:00 pm. For all you spectators out there, get ready to see some of the very best snowboarders around, rip it up Friday and Saturday in this incredible, two day event! There's more extreme action coming your way next week when Crested Butte Mountain Resort will host the 18th Annual Extreme Freeskiing Championships! Crested Butte Mountain Resort and Mountain Sports International have teamed up to bring the US and World Freeskiing Tours to the birthplace of big mountain competitions. Crested Butte was the first in the U.S. to launch an extreme skiing contest and this season marks eighteen years! For information or to register for this event, log onto www.freeskiingworldtour.com. Also happening next weekend is the Dan Prater Memorial Cup where athletes ages 11-12 can compete for the honor of qualifying for the Junior Olympics!
