Good morning ski bunnies and powder hounds! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Wednesday, February 18, 2009. We've got another powder day on our hands, with 9 inches of new snow inthe last 24 hours. You know what 9 inches means at Crested Butte Mountain Resort...freshies and powder stashes for everyone! We've had 21 inches of new snow in just the last week and our total snowfall for the season has risen to 240 inches. Conditions are powderlicious on the mountain, with a 64 inch base at the top and 50 inches at midway.

It is currently snowing and 14 degrees; temps are forecasted to reach 24 today and we have a 70% chance of more snow all day long. We can also expect snow tomorrow, and then higher temperatures and sunny, bluebird skies for the weekend. Todaywe'll have 15 lifts up and running, giving you access to 1250 acres of killer terrain. If you're looking for Colorado's Best Corduroy, we've got that too. In fact, we have 66 groomed trails spread over 481 acres on the mountain, so feel free to cruise away. Groomer's Choice today is Avery. Oh, did I mention that we've gotten 9 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours? Yeah...go ahead and get dressed and make your way to the mountain!

Well,I have been raving about the Extreme Season for a few weeks now, and now we are in the middle of it! Today marks the first day of the Juniors and Masters competition. We've been watching local groms come into their own in the Extremes and expectations are high for these young athletes. In the Masters Division, we'll see local favorites and fine-tuned winter athletes demonstrate their experience of big mountain skiing. Guaranteed, you won't want to miss a thing...so be sure to stop by the venue, Sock-It-To-Me Ridge, between 9:15 and 12:15 today. Freeskiing World Tour athletes will begin with their qualifiers on Thursday. That venue has yet to be announced, so check the message boards at the lifts when you arrive Thursday morning. We've got great conditions for this year's competition and new and seasoned athletes alike are stoked to be competing this year. Don't miss what the steeps are all about...be sure to spend some time at the Extreme Freeskiing Championships between now and Sunday.
