Announcements
Good morning everyone and happy spring! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on this fine Sunday, March 22, 2009. Spring is fantastic in Crested Butte and today will be no exception. 15 lifts, including 4 high speed quads, will be shuttling you up to 1250 acres of memorable terrain. There are 104 trails to choose from, 72 of which have been groomed by our experienced, and quite funny, grooming team. Our base is now 56 inches, and you'll enjoy the spring conditions we have right now. The temperature is currently 40 degrees, and you can expect it to rise only slightly today. It looks like we'll have snow moving back into Crested Butte for the beginning of the work week, with a 90% chance of snow on MOnday and snow showers for the remainder of the work week. This might just be the spring snow storm we've all been looking forward to...
get it while you can!

One of the most infamous events to come out of Crested Butte is happening today- the 35th annual Al Johnson Memorial
Uphill/Downhill Telemark Ski Race. Here are the details for participants. Registration for the event is from 8 to 9:30 am at the Brick Oven in town, and discount lift tickets are available for all competitors. The Tag Team Fun Race begins at noon, while the individual men and women's race begins at 1 pm. The party and raffle will begin at 4 pm at Butte 66 and will feature Free Corn Revival.

What exactly is the Al Johnson?
Competitors climb a grueling 600 feet to plunge 1,200 down through the Extreme Limits. The only requirement is that they finish with all of their gear, even if broken. Reputed as the longest running telemark ski race in the country, the AJ is rife with stiff competition amongst locals for a year’s worth of bragging rights.
As valuable as the best time, however, is the best costume award. This is where the creativity of Crested Butte emerges full force, with a free heel brigade boasting costumes from the solar system to Sesame Street characters.
You don’t have to be an extreme skier or costume fanatic to participate in the weekend’s events. Spectators are
encouraged throughout the weekend. Armed with cowbells, bullhorns and loads of enthusiasm, the Crested Butte
crowds can’t be beat. If you're in town, don't miss this event...this is what Crested Butte is all about.

Join us at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, for a spring vacation you won't forget. If you're looking for lodging,

This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty...I'll see you on the hill.
