Announcements
Good morning ski bunnies and powder hounds! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Monday, March 30, 2009. I am reporting one new inch of new snow in the last 12 hours, bringing our season snowfall total to 293". Our base is now 66" at the top and 50" lower on the mountain and we are skiing and riding powder and packed powder conditions. Currently, the temperature outside is a brisk 12 degrees and we are experiencing some higher winds that are expected to bring in some more snow. We have a 70% chance of snow today, and similar expectations for the entire week. Be sure to bundle up and stop for some hot chocolate and a Paradise Warming House mega brownie at some point today.

We now have 70% of our total terrain open and available for skiing and riding, so be sure to read the signs and obey terrain and lift closures as you mosey around the mountain. The following lifts are now closed for the remainder of the season: Peachtree, the Mountain Schools Lift, Prospect and Gold Link. The Twister Lift is also currently closed but is scheduled to reopen for closing weekend. We now have 10 lifts up and running to get you to the plethora of trails you'll be skiing and riding today. This includes what is highly considered one of our fastest runs on the mountain and the Groomer's Choice today, International.

With less than a week left in the 2009 season, it is time to revisit all your favorite places on the mountain. Picture this...you hop off the free bus at the Courtyard of Mountaineer Square, slip into Camp 4 for a delicious Americano and then head to the Silver Queen. As you ride up the Queen, you turn around and realize that you finally remembered to bring your camera up and you snap a couple of irreplaceable photos of the majestic mountains enveloping our little piece of paradise. Mid-day, your tummy grumbles so you head to Butte 66 for their unforgettable bbq sandwiches and fried pickles; the very noticeable banners and window signs then lure you into several of the base area shops where you justifyingly purchase a few necessities, gifts and gear for next year. As you carve the trails on the mountain, you run into people you know and people who are just smiling.

You smile back.

At the end of the day, you are lucky enough to get on the last chair at the North Face, the High Lift, and the Silver Queen. You can't believe just how good the groomer's are and you are still ripping through the bumps. Then you go the Ice Bar where you are greeted with high fives and tasty libations. The base area is teeming with happy visitors, seasoned locals and the spirit of spring. The bus ride to town gives you time to reflect on the day, the season, the year and your life, as you gaze out at the place you do, or would like to, call home.

It's that time of year, folks...soak up the winter as much as you can. Only seven days left. This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty sending out some love- I'll see you on the hill.
