Announcements
Good morning ski bunnies and powder hounds! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Thursday, April 2, 2009. It's powder central here in the butte; we've received 5 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours, 8 inches in the last 48 hours and a total of 18 inches in the last seven days. Unfortunately, I don't have the 12 hour report this morning- my apologies to all you bean counters out there. I am glad to be the one to tell you, however, that our most recent snow accumulation has brought us over the 300 inch marker for the season- we have received a total of 302 inches this ski and riding season and it looks like there is more on the way. Snow is expected to make its encore today, tomorrow and Saturday and things look like they will be clearing up for the very last day of the 2008-2009 winter season here at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Gather your friends, and your costumes now, in preparation for the last day's fesitivities.

We are still rocking 998 acres of skiing and riding terrain, including 77% of our beginner and intermediate terrain, 100% of our advanced terrain and 86% of our unbeatable Extreme terrain. There are plenty of powder stashes out there for you locals and adventurous guests and we are also featuring 382 acres of groomed terrain, that's 64 trails including the Groomer's Choice- Keystone. Just a heads up for all skiers and riders, the following lifts are now closed for the remainder of the season: Peachtree, the Mountain School Lifts, Teocalli, Prospect and Gold Link. The Twister Lift is also currently closed but is scheduled to reopen for closing weekend.

It's time to shop at the base area of Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Many of the base area retail stores are featuring stupendous clearance and end-of-season sales. Your options are aplenty...we've got Thin Air Sports, Crested Butte Ski & Snowboard, Elevation Station, Butte & Co., CB Sports, Colorado Boarder, Colorado Freeskier, Flatiron Sports and Peak Sports. You'll find outerwear and underwear, discounted seasonal clothing and stylish accessories, not to mention this year's top rated skis and snowboards. Ease those post-shopping hunger pains at any of the base area restaurants including 9380 Prime, Butte 66, Trackers, the Woodstone Deli, Avalanche Bar & Grill, The Bakery, Django's and Firehouse Grill. These restaurants offer a range of dining experiences that will suit your pocket and your belly. Get it while you can...only four days left this season.

I was glad to see so many people enjoying the powder day yesterday. I saw everyone from elite mountain athletes hiking to Phoenix-Spellbound, to semi-pro, extreme snowbladers tearing down the Headwall;from ripping little five year-olds on the North Face and costumed stuntmasters in the Canaan Terrain Park. We've got something for everyone here at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Thanks for keeping us Snow Betties happy this season...I'll see you on the hill.
