Announcements
Good morning all you snow bunnies and powder hounds! Happy Powder Day! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Sunday, February 21, 2010. If you ordered up another powder day, the snow gods and goddesses answered. In just the last 24 hours, we've added 6 inches to Friday's storm, making our 48 hour total 21 inches of that good, light, fluffy powder. Since the lifts closed yesterday, two inches have filled in yesterday's tracks and left you with plenty more face shots for today. Our snow total for this season has risen to 184 with this current snow system, and we can expect snow throughout today and tomorrow.

We have 16 lifts up and running today, quickly moving you up the mountain to access 1144 acres of terrain. There is a total of 111 trails for you to choose from, including 68 trails of Colorado's Best Corduroy. Conditions on the mountain range from powder to packed powder and the Groomer's Choice today is Upper Keystone. You'll be able to see some of the fastest 11-12 year old ski racers from the Silver Queen Lift today. These high speed skiing competitors are participating in the 39th annual Prater Cup, some of them looking to qualify for the Junior Olympics. You might just see the new Lindsey Vonn or Bode Miller up there!

If all this powder is new to you, the Crested Butte Ski & Ride School is the answer to your powder skiing and riding questions. Don't waste your time tiring out your legs by making turns in the thick and heavy snow. Let our experienced instructors show you the best and most efficient ways to ski and ride so that you can enjoy personal powder stashes all over the mountain. Lessons are available for individuals and for groups with similar skiing or riding abilities, and all ages are welcome. Stop by the Adventure Center or the Axtell Building to make reservations for your lesson today, and enjoy all the varying terrain offered by Crested Butte Mountain Resort. You can also call 1-800-544-8448 for more information or to reserve your lessons today.

Don't forget that 19th Annual Subaru US Freeskiing Championships are finishing up today. See the best big mountain skiers in the industry and cheer for your favorite local. Cowbells and blowhorns are welcome, because the skiers really put on a show when they hear the crowd cheer. Competitors are vying for the largest cash purse on the Freeskiing Circuit, and prizes galore. Ask a lift operator or guest service representative how to get to the venue and feel free to wear a costume- this is Crested Butte after all!

It's a powder day in Crested Butte....if you're not here already, you haven't the slightest clue what you're missing. This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty, and you know I'll see you on the hill today.
