Good morning ski bunnies and powder hounds! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Sunday, March 7, 2010. The hill is alive this weekend, with locals basking in the springy, sunny days and visitors who are out to make their best turns of the season. This season we have been fortunate enough to get 191" of snow on Crested Butte Mountain.
We are skiing and riding on packed powder and powder conditions, with a totally ridable base of 55". We have 1144 acres of accessible terrain, accessed by 15 chair lifts. With 111 trails to check out, including 66 groomed trails, all levels of skiers and riders are finding their favorite trails up on the hill. Today, our grooming team recommends a local's favorite, International as the Groomer's Choice.
I think we've got some snow on the way folks, and if the snow goddesses play nicely, we should see that white stuff every day over the next week. There is a very high chance of snow for today and tomorrow, with snow showers moving in and out of the valley both days. Temps for the next three days will reach into the mid to high 30's, so be sure to treat yourself to lunch indoors at Butte 66, 9380 Prime, Paradise Warming House, Jefe's in Mountaineer Square or that cute little pizza place in the bottom of the Treasury Building.
We've got airfare, lodging and lift ticket specials going on through the end of the season, and especially great deals if you are bringing the kiddos along. Visit skicb.com and click on Lodging to browse all the deals we have to offer, or call our friendly reservationists at Crested Butte Vacations. Their number is 1-800-810-7669.
As the season winds down, we are kicking up the events on the mountain. This month alone, we have the USASA Southwest Series Superpipe, the Beach Ball Express, benefitting the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum, the Big Air on Elk, the 14th Annual Telemark Freeskiing Championships, the Al Johnson and Yonder Mountain Skitown Breakdown. We are looking to go out with a bang this season, folks, so if you're not already here, rest assured that your plate will be full when you get here. Crested Butte if full of lively characters and events- every occasion demands your attendance and is guaranteed unforgettable memories.
It seems like it will be a good day to get a little wind in your face, so I'll be up on the mountain bright and early. This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty signing off- I'll see you on the hill.
