Announcements
It’s another Powder Day in Crested Butte, with 15 generous inches of new snow in the last 24 hours! If you hadn’t already planned to play hooky from work and school, I suggest you think again! The wind has calmed considerably since this new snow blew in yesterday and powder has covered 1177 acres of skiing and riding terrain on the mountain. In the last seven days, we’ve had 21 inches of fresh snow, bringing our snow totals from this season to 344 inches- that’s 28 and a half feet! There is a snow advisory through noon today, and I will not be surprised if we see a little more of that good, fluffy white stuff before we sit down for lunch.

Unsure of where to eat today? Well, the Paradise Warming House continues to be a hot spot for everyone- whether you’re looking for something hearty like soup in a bread bowl, or just a slice, sandwich, or salad, Paradise Warming House has everything to meet your feasting needs! Stop in for some hot chocolate and their famously large Rice Krispie treats to power you up for the second half of your powder day. At the base area, Butte 66, the Atmosphere Restaurant, Camp 4 Coffee, On the Run Deli, and the Brown Labrador Pub provide a fine selection of dining experiences. You’ll be pleased anywhere your boots take you!

Looking to score a souvenir from the 17th Annual Extreme Freeskiing Championships? If you were there this weekend, basking in the sun with your buddies, and watching the best Extreme Freeskiers in the world, then this year’s t-shirt will top off your memories. T-shirts can be found at four base area locations, including The Outpost in the old Gene Taylor’s building, Elevation Station in the Elevation Hotel, The Gift Shop in the Grand Lodge and the General Store, located in the Treasury Center.

The General Store is quite a treat for visitors who are looking to capture a piece of Colorado. The General Store features eclectic art and keepsakes created by local artists and craftsmen that embody the Crested Butte style. There’s a variety of Colorado specialty food products, home décor, and gift items created exclusively for the Crested Butte General Store- a fantastic shopping opportunity indeed!

Enough of this jibber- jabber. The bottom line is that it dumped in Crested Butte yesterday and overnight and it is still snowing out there. Happy Powder Day- I’ll see you on the hill!
