Announcements
Good morning skiers and riders! First thing’s first- the venue for the 12th Annual U.S. Extreme Freeskiing Telemark Championship for the second and final day, is Staircase, featuring Slot Rocks and Dead End Chutes. See the best free-heelers in the world compete in this unique event- and best of luck to all the competitors. I also suggest you stick around another day to witness the infamous Al Johnson Memorial Uphill Downhill Race. The AJ, as it is fondly referred to by locals, will feature hundreds of costumed participants ascending 600 vertical feet to the crest of the North Face, and then racing down the double back diamond terrain to the finish. Head to the bottom of the North Face Lift on Sunday at 12 pm to catch a glimpse of these enthusiastic and highly creative characters. On to the snow report…

Spring skiing and riding is the best, isn’t it? You’ve got sunny skies that make for wide, bright smiles, fresh air that yields high energy and long days, and, at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, you’ve got world class alpine skiing and snowboarding to challenge you to new experiences and fine-tune your time on the mountain. With 480 acres of “Colorado’s Best Corduroy” and the most lift-accessed Extreme terrain in the country, locals and spring break visitors are “living the dream” in Crested Butte during these last two weeks of March. We’ve received over a foot of snow in the last seven days, so all 1177 acres of open terrain is ready and waiting for you to coast your skis or snowboard- if you’re not here already, seriously ask yourself what you are waiting for?

Did you know that from March 24 through the last day of the season, April 13th, Crested Butte Mountain Resort is offering the best deal for passholders- half price lift tickets! Present your pass from any other ski resort at the Crested Butte ticket office and get ½ price lift tickets- as low as $19.50! For more information on lift tickets, call the Adventure Center at Mountaineer Square at 970-349-2262. Passholders can also receive 10-15% off lodging booked through Crested Butte Vacations. For lodging and lift ticket packages, call 1-800-810-7669.

One final announcement for the Saturday snow report…Easter would not really be Easter without the Easter Bunny. Please join us in the outdoor courtyard at Mountaineer Square for a FREE Easter egg hunt tomorrow at 11 am and visit with that crazy old Easter Bunny. All kids must be accompanied by smiling adults, and the event is for children 10 and under. Hop on up to Mountaineer Square Sunday morning and remember the excitement and traditions of Easter.

This is Colorado’s very own Snow Betty signing off- have a great weekend with sunny skies and temps reaching the high 30’s and low 40’s. I’ll see you on the hill!
