I have been a massage therapist for 14 years. My study began in Northern California at Heartwood Institute and I worked 5 years in a spa in Santa Cruz. In 1992 I traveled the world and studied Thai Massage in Northern Thailand. I moved to Santa Fe, NM and became a licensed massage therapist at the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts in 1994. I worked for 6 years at a wonderful Japanese spa in Santa Fe called 10,000 Waves. My knowledge of the human body was greatly enhanced during my experience there by working on so many different bodies. I first discovered Crested Butte in 1995 and fell in love with the mountains and the spirit of the town. I finally moved here in 1998 and I am now offering bodywork at the White Lotus Massage and Wellness Center. My work has evolved a lot in the last 14 years by bringing together the Western and the Eastern approaches of massage. The Western approach includes Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sport Massage, and Lomi-Lomi (Hawaiian Massage). The Eastern philosophies follow the principles of the Chi (energy flow) and pressure points connected to different organs in the body. Shiatsu and Thai Massage follow these principles. I am also in the process of studying Ortho-Bionomy, which comes from osteopathy and recognizes the body’s self-healing and self-regulating ability. The human body is so fascinating to me. I always enjoy learning different ways to approach it. It is wonderful to help clients discover the connection between Body Mind and Spirit and help them engage in the body’s natural responsiveness and healing awareness.
