Begin with a brief yet rich history of Gothic, CO and RMBL. After this quick introduction, observe, appreciate and identify a large variety of wildflowers on a leisurely (not strenuous!) stroll near Gothic. Learn about studies being conducted with the flowers as well as how these plants have been historically used as food and medicine. Don’t forget your cameras, field guides, and curiosity for this tour. Call to make reservations.
Wildflower Tours are every Wednesday from 1:00-3:30pm starting June 18 through July 30. There will also be a Monday tour on July 14th from 9:00-11:30am.

Birding at Gothic June 14, 8:00-10:00 am
Ron Meyer, local experienced birder, member of RMBL and the Audubon Society, guides an early morning tour of RMBL’s feathered residents.
Gothic’s Colorful History June 21, 1:30-3:00pm
Join year-round resident, Billy Barr as he chronicles accounts of Gothic’s past while conducting a tour of the historic buildings within the town site. Learn the captivating truth about Gothic’s eccentric characters and the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory.
Beavers: RMBL’s Industrious Builders June 28, 7:00-9:00pm
No species except humans has had a greater impact on its surrounding landscape than the beaver (castor canadensis). Dr. Christian Floyd, University of California - Davis, professor of Biology, leads an evening walk and discussion on the ecological importance of these large rodents. We will observe them as they begin their nighttime foraging activities in the montane riparian wilderness near Gothic.
Boom, Bust & Research: A Director’s Tour July 12, 10:00-11:30am
Dr. Ian Billick, RMBL Director, will conduct a tour of the Rocky Mountain Biological Lab’s facilities while discussing the history of how Gothic transformed from a mining boomtown to an internationally acclaimed research field station.
Butterflies of Gothic July 26, 10:00am - Noon
Observe the lifestyles of the Lepidopteron Clan. Stanford scientist, Dr. Carol Boggs discusses the life cycle, habitat, behaviors and how researchers study butterflies.
Tours are $16/adult and $5/children under 12. RMBL members receive a 20% discount on all tours.
